Subject: Don Juan climbing rose
Location: Grandma's, Charleston, WV
Camera: Canon Powershot S3IS

The Don Juan (yes, named for Lord Byron's poem) climbing rose was developed in 1958 in Italy. This particular bush in Grandma's backyard, was Granddad's favorite rose while he was alive. I am pleased to have finally been able to photograph this beautiful, wonderful rose, the truest of the true reds -- it does not "blue out" like other red roses. In addition to being absolutely gorgeous, its fragrance is perfect; powerful, yet not overwhelming.

Here's to you, Granddad.
